Private beta · For small businesses and their accountants

Bookkeeping that does the work and waits for your sign‑off.

BookkeepLedger keeps real double-entry books. Connect your bank, and the desk, a team of AI assistants, codes your transactions, matches payments and drafts journal entries. Nothing reaches your books until a person approves it.

Invite-only while we work with our first businesses. 30-day free trial when plans open.

The BookkeepLedger desk showing ten changes waiting for sign-off: a batch of bank lines, each coded to an account with a confidence score and a checkbox to approve.
How it works

Your bank feed in. Reviewed books out.

Small businesses fall behind on bookkeeping because every transaction needs a decision. BookkeepLedger prepares those decisions and leaves the final word to you or your accountant.

01

Connect your bank

Link business checking, savings and credit cards securely through Plaid. New transactions arrive in your bank feed on their own.

02

The desk prepares the work

It suggests a category for each line, spots transfers and invoice payments, and drafts entries. Each suggestion shows how sure it is and why.

03

You approve, edit or reject

Approve a batch in one click, change what's wrong, or talk a judgment call through. Every approved change is recorded in the audit log.

The review queue

Judgment calls come to you, not into your books.

When the desk is less sure, it says so and hands you the decision with everything you need to make it.

  • Approve as proposed, or reject with a reason the desk remembers
  • Ask the desk to explain its reasoning before you decide
  • Approvals run under your own permissions, and closed periods stay locked
Two decision cards from the desk, each proposing a category for a bank line at 60% confidence, with buttons to approve, ask why, talk it through or reject.
Bank feed

Every bank line, and where it's filed.

Transactions from your connected accounts land in one feed. File them yourself, let a rule do it, or let the desk propose it.

  • Checking, savings and credit card accounts side by side
  • Categorization rules for vendors you see every month
  • Receipts matched to the charges they belong to
The transactions screen: balances for four bank and card accounts, then a bank feed listing recent lines with their status and a Categorize button.
Your numbers

Know where cash stands before you open a report.

The front page reads your books back to you: cash on hand, who owes you, what you owe, and what still needs attention this month.

  • Profit and loss, balance sheet, cash flow, aging and more
  • Invoices, bills, payments, loans and fixed assets
  • Export to QuickBooks whenever you want your data elsewhere
The front page showing cash on hand of $100,479.11, amounts owed in both directions, month-to-date income and expenses, and a card from the desk with changes waiting for sign-off.
For accountants

Every client's books, one sign-in.

Bookkeepers and accountants see each client's open work at a glance and step into any company with the role its owner gave them.

  • Uncategorized lines and overdue receivables per client
  • Owner, admin, accountant and viewer roles
  • Month-end review and closing the books
The clients screen listing three companies with the user's role, plan, uncategorized lines, overdue receivables and closing status for each.
Bank connections

We connect to your bank through Plaid.

Plaid is the service many financial apps use to link bank accounts. You sign in to your bank inside Plaid's window. Your bank username and password go to Plaid and your bank, never to us.

What we receive

Your bank's name, each account's name, type and last four digits, balances, and transactions: date, amount, description and merchant.

What we use it for

Only to keep your books: filling your bank feed, suggesting categories, matching payments and reconciling accounts.

How we protect it

The key Plaid gives us for your connection is encrypted with AES-256-GCM before it's stored. Bank data is encrypted in transit and at rest.

You stay in control

Disconnect a bank at any time from Bank accounts. We also remove the connection at Plaid. We never sell your data.

Details are in our privacy policy and in Plaid's End User Privacy Policy.

Security

Built for financial data from day one.

Your books hold your customers', vendors' and bank information. These protections are on for every account.

Two-step sign-in, always

An authenticator app is required for every user and can't be turned off. Recovery codes are stored only as keyed hashes.

Each company walled off

Every request is checked against the user's company and role, and the database's row-level security keeps companies apart.

Encrypted everywhere

HTTPS for everything in transit. The database, cache, backups and file storage are encrypted at rest on Amazon Web Services in the US.

AI with a human in the loop

The desk runs on Anthropic's Claude models through Amazon Bedrock. It can only propose changes, and your data isn't used to train models.

Audit trail

Changes to the books, including every approved proposal, are recorded with who made them and when.

Scanned on every change

Dependencies and container images are scanned automatically before code ships. Webhooks from Plaid and Stripe are signature-checked.

Pricing

Two plans. Both start with 30 days free.

Bank connections and the desk are included in both.
